What Floridians Refill

The maintenance medications Floridians refill most.

Florida's year-round and seasonal residents lean on the same routine, non-controlled prescriptions — blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, and more. A Florida-licensed clinician picks up where your last provider left off, so there's no need to start from scratch when your supply runs low.

Blood Pressure Meds Lisinopril, amlodipine, metoprolol, losartan — among the most-refilled prescriptions for Florida residents
Cholesterol & Statins Atorvastatin, rosuvastatin, simvastatin — routine refills to keep cardiovascular care on schedule
Thyroid Medications Levothyroxine, liothyronine, Synthroid generics — kept on schedule whether you're here year-round or for the season
Allergy Medications Cetirizine, fexofenadine, montelukast, nasal sprays — for Florida's long pollen and ragweed seasons
Birth Control Oral contraceptives, patch, vaginal ring — refilled without a trip back to your home-state provider
Hair Loss Treatments Finasteride, minoxidil, dutasteride for men and women
Not eligible for online refill

We do not refill Schedule II–V controlled substances (opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants) or high-risk medications requiring intensive monitoring, such as warfarin. If your medication needs lab monitoring or a recent in-person visit, a clinician will let you know.

For Seasonal Residents

Snowbird? Don't fly home for a refill.

Florida's seasonal residents don't have to ration medication or book a flight when a routine prescription runs low. A Florida-licensed clinician can review your history and refill non-controlled medications while you're here — sent to a pharmacy near you.

Winter residents Spending the season in Florida? Refill the maintenance medications you already take — blood pressure, thyroid, cholesterol, and more — without a trip back to your home-state doctor.
New to Florida Recently moved or here for an extended stay? Get an appropriate refill from a Florida-licensed clinician while you establish local care.
Sent to a local pharmacy Your refill goes to a Florida pharmacy you choose — Publix, CVS, Walgreens, or Winn-Dixie — for same-day pickup in most cases.

Why wait weeks for a refill in Florida?

Booking a new-patient appointment just to refill a routine prescription can mean a weeks-long wait in much of Florida — or a $150+ urgent-care bill. A Florida-licensed clinician sends the same prescription to your Florida pharmacy for a flat $39, no appointment, no waiting room.

Refill Guide

What to know before refilling online in Florida.

Online refills are designed for routine, non-controlled medications you are already taking — including the maintenance prescriptions Florida's year-round and seasonal residents rely on. A Florida-licensed clinician reviews your history and authorizes a refill only when it remains appropriate.

Medically reviewed by Dr. John Venzor, Florida-licensed physician. Last reviewed June 5, 2026. This section is educational and does not replace individualized medical advice.

How online prescription refills work

You complete a secure online form describing your medication, dosage, prescribing history, allergies, and pharmacy preference. A Florida-licensed clinician reviews the information and may follow up if more detail is needed. If the medication is non-controlled and a refill remains appropriate, the clinician sends an electronic prescription to your pharmacy for same-day pickup in most cases.

Vyta does not automatically issue refills. If your answers suggest a dose change is needed, missing recent labs or monitoring, a new symptom, or a medication we do not refill, the clinician may recommend an in-person visit instead.

Is online prescription refilling legal in Florida?

Yes. Florida law allows licensed clinicians to provide care and prescribe non-controlled medications through telehealth — including establishing a provider-patient relationship online — under Florida's telehealth statute (Florida Statutes §456.47). Vyta's Florida-licensed clinicians review your medication history before authorizing a refill, and only for non-controlled medications. Controlled substances (Schedule II–V) require an in-person evaluation under state and federal rules and are not refilled online.

When an online refill is appropriate

Online refills suit stable, routine medications you have taken before without recent problems — for example blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, birth control, allergy, or hair-loss medications. The clinician confirms the medication, dose, and your history before authorizing.

When you need an in-person visit

  • A controlled substance (opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants) — we cannot refill these online
  • A medication that requires recent labs or close monitoring (for example warfarin, certain thyroid or blood-pressure adjustments)
  • A new symptom, side effect, or a dose that needs changing
  • No prescriber or recent visit on record for the medication

Medications we don't refill online

We do not refill Schedule II–V controlled substances or high-risk medications requiring intensive monitoring. This keeps online refills safe and within guidelines. If your medication falls outside what we can refill, the clinician will point you toward appropriate in-person care.

Will my pharmacy and dose stay the same?

Yes. Your refill is sent to the pharmacy you choose, at your current medication and dose, the same way any prescription is transmitted. If a change is clinically needed, the clinician discusses it with you first.

Splitting your year between two states?

Many Florida patients spend part of the year elsewhere. While you are physically in Florida, a Florida-licensed clinician can refill your routine, non-controlled medications and send them to a Florida pharmacy. To keep care continuous, keep an up-to-date medication list, have your home-state pharmacy or records handy, and plan to re-establish care with your regular provider when you return. Ongoing conditions still need periodic in-person follow-up and any required lab monitoring on schedule.
