What We Refill

The maintenance medications Ohioans refill most

These are the routine, non-controlled prescriptions Ohio adults take month after month — the ones that keep a chronic or maintenance condition stable. An Ohio-licensed clinician picks up where your last provider left off, so a busy schedule or a long drive never means skipping a dose.

Birth Control Pills, patch, or ring for Ohio students and busy adults who don't want a clinic trip for a routine renewal.
Acne Medications Tretinoin and topical antibiotics kept on schedule for teens and adults across Ohio, without a dermatology backlog.
Thyroid Medications Levothyroxine and Synthroid generics for Ohioans on a steady daily dose, refilled before you run out.
Blood Pressure Meds Lisinopril, amlodipine, and losartan — the maintenance meds rural and Appalachian Ohio households count on month to month.
Hair Loss Treatments Finasteride and minoxidil for Ohio men and women, refilled discreetly from home — no in-person visit needed.
Allergy Medications Montelukast and prescription nasal sprays for Ohioans through ragweed and pollen season, sent to your pharmacy same day.
Not eligible for online refill

We do not refill Schedule II–V controlled substances (opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants) or high-risk medications requiring intensive monitoring, such as warfarin. If your medication needs lab monitoring or a recent in-person visit, a clinician will let you know.

For Rural & Appalachian Ohio

Miles from the nearest pharmacy? Skip the drive for a refill.

Across the rolling counties of southeast and Appalachian Ohio, the nearest clinic or pharmacy can be a long drive away — and the closest independent drugstore may have closed. A $39 online refill lets you renew a maintenance prescription from the kitchen table and send it to whichever Ohio pharmacy is easiest for you to reach.

Pharmacy deserts When the local drugstore has shut its doors, your refill still goes to whatever Ohio pharmacy you can actually get to.
Southeast & Appalachian Ohio From Athens and Marietta to the hills of Gallia and Vinton counties, no in-person appointment is needed to keep a steady medication going.
Continuity of care Between provider visits, an Ohio-licensed clinician reviews your history so a maintenance medication never lapses over a missed trip into town.

For Ohio Snowbirds

Spend the winter away? Keep your Ohio refills on track.

Plenty of Ohioans head to warmer states for the colder months. While you're home in Ohio, an Ohio-licensed clinician can renew the routine medications you take year-round — so your Ohio pharmacy stays current and you head into the season without a gap.

Before you go Square away your maintenance refills before you leave for the winter — blood pressure, thyroid, cholesterol, and more — without a last-minute clinic trip.
Year-round routine Keep the medications you take all year on schedule. An Ohio-licensed clinician reviews your history and refills non-controlled prescriptions when it remains appropriate.
Your Ohio pharmacy Refills go to the Ohio pharmacy you already use — Kroger, Discount Drug Mart, Marc's, Giant Eagle, CVS, or Walgreens — for same-day pickup in most cases.

Refill Guide

What to know before refilling online.

If you already take a routine medication in Ohio, an online refill keeps you on schedule without a clinic trip — whether you live counties from the nearest pharmacy or split your year between Ohio and somewhere warmer for the winter. Refills are designed for non-controlled medications you are already taking. An Ohio-licensed clinician reviews your history and authorizes a refill only when it remains appropriate.

How online prescription refills work

You complete a secure online form describing your medication, dosage, prescribing history, allergies, and pharmacy preference. An Ohio-licensed clinician reviews the information and may follow up if more detail is needed. If the medication is non-controlled and a refill remains appropriate, the clinician sends an electronic prescription to your Ohio pharmacy for same-day pickup in most cases.

Vyta does not automatically issue refills. If your answers suggest a dose change is needed, missing recent labs or monitoring, a new symptom, or a medication we do not refill, the clinician may recommend an in-person visit instead.

Is online prescription refilling legal in Ohio?

Yes. Ohio law allows licensed clinicians to provide care and prescribe non-controlled medications through telehealth — including establishing the provider-patient relationship online — under Ohio's telehealth standards in the Ohio Revised Code (ORC §4743.09, enacted by House Bill 122 in 2021). Vyta's Ohio-licensed clinicians review your medication history before authorizing a refill, and only for non-controlled medications. Controlled substances (Schedule II–V) require an in-person evaluation under state and federal rules and are not refilled online.

When an online refill is appropriate

Online refills suit stable, routine medications you have taken before without recent problems — for example birth control, thyroid, blood pressure, allergy, acne, or hair-loss medications. The clinician confirms the medication, dose, and your history before authorizing.

When you need an in-person visit

  • A controlled substance (opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants) — we cannot refill these online
  • A medication that requires recent labs or close monitoring (for example warfarin, certain thyroid or blood-pressure adjustments)
  • A new symptom, side effect, or a dose that needs changing
  • No prescriber or recent visit on record for the medication

Medications we don't refill online

We do not refill Schedule II–V controlled substances or high-risk medications requiring intensive monitoring. This keeps online refills safe and within guidelines. If your medication falls outside what we can refill, the clinician will point you toward appropriate in-person care.

Will my pharmacy and dose stay the same?

Yes. Your refill is sent to the pharmacy you choose, at your current medication and dose, the same way any prescription is transmitted. If a change is clinically needed, the clinician discusses it with you first.
